At Kennacraig, 5 miles west of Tarbert, there is the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry terminal to Islay and Colonsay and in Tarbert itself there is a vehicular ferry service to Portavadie on the Cowal Peninsula leading to Dunoon through Tighnabruaich.  At Claonaig, 5 miles east of Kennacraig on the other side of the peninsula, there is a seasonal ferry service to Lochranza on the Island of Arran. Just west of Tarbert there is a challenging 9-hole golf course a short distance along the road to Kilberry. Driving time to Glasgow (105 miles) is approximately 2½ hours. At Campbeltown Airport, 4 miles west of Campbeltown, there are daily weekday flights to and from Glasgow with an inflight time of approx. 30 minutes.
