Full Description

Ordha Coille is a delightful, extended, traditional-build, stone cottage boasting 5 bedrooms, 2 reception rooms and 3 bathrooms. Full accommodation in this spacious property consists of entrance vestibule with wooden storm door and twin internal doors, internal hallway, study/bedroom 5, living room with newly installed wood burning stove and panoramic views across to the islands of Islay and Jura, master bedroom with large dressing area, family bathroom, country style kitchen with granite-topped island, large conservatory accessed from the kitchen and with 2 doors, one to either side, utility room, second family bathroom, dining room with views across the field opposite towards Islay and Jura, 3 further double bedrooms, the largest at the front of the north extension having an en-suite shower room. There is a porch with separate access at the north gable with a path leading to the rear where there are 2 stores attached to the main building, one with ample storage for garden machinery etc and the other houses the bunded oil tank and boiler for the partial central heating system. The property is in good order with double timber framed glazing throughout and a mixture of solid fuel burner, electric heaters and oil fired central heating providing the heating and hot water. The property has a couple of rooms which will require to be decorated

Kilberry is a small hamlet on the West coast of the Kintyre peninsula with views across to Islay and Jura (and Gigha is visible in the South). There are several private dwellings as well as an award winning pub & restaurant at the Kilberry Inn. The road South heads around the peninsula to Tarbert and the road North joins the A83 and heads for Lochgilphead.

This property with its construction, location, outlook and surrounding grounds is sure to see elevated levels of interest and we would strongly recommend contacting our Lochgilphead office for further information and to arrange a suitable time to come and visit Ordha Coille to fully appreciate it..

The garden grounds at Ordha Coille lie mainly to the rear of the cottage. All in all there are 3 acres of land, cultivated from a copse of conifers, removed by the current owners, and a few of which are left as good, defined borders to the South and East. The area had been cleared to a certain extent and is now a lovely mix of hardy perennials including Azalea, Rhododendron, Camellia and an assortment of young trees. There is a large double garage with parking for 2 cars comfortably in front. There is a further driveway just to the south of the garages with overflow parking available there if necessary. There is access to the rear of the area of land via a farm gate, accessed off of the farm/forest road just beyond the south boundary. There is a greenhouse and a large garden shed and the handy stores at the rear of the house are accessed from the rear garden/path.

Tarbert, 12 miles away, has, as mentioned above, a wide range of amenities including Primary and Secondary education, medical centre, dentist, local supermarket, pubs and restaurants. The surrounding area is a haven for the outdoor enthusiasts. There are walks and cycle routes available throughout the North Kintyre area including the Kintyre Way, stretching from Tarbert in the North to the Mull of Kintyre in the South. There are also opportunities for sailing, fishing, bird watching, shooting and diving along with many other popular passed times. For the golfers amongst us there are 2 9-hole courses nearby, Tarbert and Carradale and further south 3 18-hole courses, 2 at Machrihanish and 1 in Southend.

Within approximately an hour’s drive of Kilberry there are ferry terminals to Islay (and Jura), Gigha, Arran, and Portavadie and a little further away Ardrossan (seasonal) from Campbeltown and many other Inner Hebrides islands from Oban,  an hour and a half to the North, Campbeltown Airport is a mere 26 miles away and Glasgow International approximately 2 ½ hours away.

 By-line

A well-proportioned 5 bedroom property set in Kilberry, a small hamlet on the west coast of Kintyre with views across Islay and Jura.
