Full Description

Strathbane, which comprises the upper 2 floors of a substantial stone villa, is situated on the south side of the main road through the village of Southend, and enjoys a panoramic southerly outlook over open farmland to the rear out over Dunaverty Golf Course to the Island of Sanda and the Ayrshire coast.   To the south west, the tip of Northern Ireland can also be seen on a clear day.   The views from the property are really quite splendid.

Southend itself is a very friendly and active local community with the usual range of local organisations and activities, including the local Parish Church, just along the road.   The village has its own primary school with secondary education being continued in Campbeltown where pupils are transported daily at the expense of the Education Authority.   Campbeltown is only 15 minutes away by car and, for a town of its size, it has an excellent range of amenities.

For a purchaser keen on golfing, Dunaverty Golf Course, which is challenging and most picturesque, can be seen from the property and is only a few minutes walking distance away.   At Machrihanish, approximately 12 miles away, there is the famous Championship Golf Links, where the first hole plays over the Atlantic as well as the recently opened Machrihanish Dunes Golf Course.

As mentioned, Strathbane comprises the upper 2 floors of a traditional stone built villa, the flat on the ground floor being in separate ownership.   In addition to the main living accommodation, the property also has the benefit of 2 sizeable rooms in the basement, which provide excellent storage and also offers potential for a workshop, games room or similar use.   In keeping with the age of the property, all doors and facings, and many of the skirtings, are in their original condition, and there is also a splendid staircase, the banister of which is believed to be in pitch pine.

Generously proportioned the  accommodation does require some redecoration and refurbishment,  hence the very reasonable asking price ,and  comprises entrance vestibule, reception hall, cosy lounge with multi fuel stove,  well fitted dining kitchen, lovely bright dining room, study, four bright airy bedrooms , bathroom plus shower room.   The garden grounds are to the rear of the property on the left hand side and are easily maintained.   The basement is also accessible from the garden.

Great potential to be an excellent B & B in a delightful part of Kintyre.
